Horizon, a blockchain gaming startup, has raised $4.5 million in its latest seeding round to provide players with true ownership via blockchain technology.
The seeding round counted with the participation of Bitkraft Ventures, CMT Digital, The Xchange Company, Khaled Verjee, and Zyshan Kaba, bringing the total funding raised by the startup to $13.3 million. Michael Sanders, the cofounder of Horizon Blockchain Games, referred to the round by stating:
“We have a lot of excitement around bringing on Bitkraft as an investor, deepening our relationship with CMT, who has been our investor since early 2020, and this is really meaningful. We’re excited to be one of their very first investments into blockchain and Web3.”
The studio is developing Skyweaver, an HTML5-based digital collectible card game (CCG) that integrates Non-fungible Tokens (NFTs) that provide users with full ownership over their in-game assets. The technology has been in the spotlight over the past year as it has been adopted by major personalities and organizations like CNN, Time Magazine, Lindsey Lohan, and Edward Snowden.
With card games like Hearthstone, Legends of Runeterra, Magic: The Gathering Arena, Slay The Spire, and more enjoying increasing popularity over the past years, collectible card games with a F2P model have proven incredible success in the gaming market. Now, Horizon is aiming to bring a new experience to players while also bringing crypto and Web3 to players in an easy and fun manner. In this regards, Sanders added:
“We really believe that in the next decade, every company is going to be a Web3 company and that every person with an internet connection will have a Web3 wallet. And that’s where we’re heading. We’ve held this thesis since 2018. And it’s really wonderful to see more and more projects come online, with more validation.”
With gaming being widely considered the gateway to crypto’s mass adoption, companies around the world are racing to create the big next blockchain game but the CCG being developed by this blockchain gaming startup offers a unique synergy that will allow an easy transition for those familiar with the genre.
